The privacy policy of the LE:NOTRE Institute

The LE:NOTRE Institute (LNI) is a not-for-profit organisations that operates two websites: www.le-notre.org and http://forum.ln-institute.org, which provide information on landscape, the activities of LNI and information (some by newsletters) that is relevant for our subscribers: for instance e-lectures and e-seminars, the yearly LE:NOTRE Forum and events of related organisations.

Here you are informed on our policy with the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information if anyone decides to visit these websites, logs into the internal areas and/or participates in activities.

With choosing to use our website(s), you are also agreeing to the collection and use of information in relation with this policy. The personal information that we collect is used for providing and improving our services. We will not use or share your information with third parties except as described in this privacy policy (see section service providers).

Subscribers and members may log in to the internal area that is managed by an ILIAS system. If you are part of groups in this area, you should be aware of the fact that your profile is shared with other (group) members. If you do not want this, you can easily unsubscribe from a group or adapt the settings of your profile.

Collecting and use of information

For a better experience, while using our services, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information, including but not limited to your name, mail address, phone number, and postal address.

The information that LNI collects will be used to contact or identify you.
LNI may share your contact information, limited to first name, last name, affiliation (the organisation where you work), your function at your institution and mail address with other members. If you do not want to share this information, please let us know.

If you have generated a profile in the internal log in area of the collaboration platform (the ILIAS system), you can select for yourself which parts of the profile you want to share with other group members.
We want to inform you that when you visit our website, we may collect information that your browser sends to us that is called log data. These data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol address, browser type, pages of our website that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, and other statistics.

Cookies

Cookies are files with small amount of data that is commonly used as an anonymous unique identifier. These are sent to your browser from the website that you visit and are stored on your computer’s memory. Our website uses these “cookies” to collect information and to improve our services. You have the option to either accept or refuse these cookies, and know when a cookie is being sent to your computer. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some functions of our website.

Service providers

The LNI employs third-party companies and individuals to manage and maintain our website, host our website on our behalf; perform related services such as organizing e-lecture courses or the LE:NOTRE Forum; or to assist us in analyzing how our service is used.

We want to inform our website visitors and contributors / members that these third parties have access to your personal information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obliged not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.

The LE:NOTRE Institute sends in collaboration with the European Council of Schools (ECLAS) out a newsletters and organisational e-mails using Mailchimp. The service collects names and e-mail addresses in order to send the newsletter and other mails related to the services of ECLAS and LE:NOTRE, for instance conference announcements, announcement to members. When you unsubscribe from the Mailchimp-list we will delete your data within two months. The data are collected according to the terms and conditions of Mailchimp see the section E. E. Security

We value your trust in providing us your personal information, thus we are striving to use acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Our websites may contain links to other sites, for instance to websites of organisations that host events. If you click on such a link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Changes to this policy

LNI may update its privacy policy. Thus, we advise you to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately.
