Festival at the palace
Summer Well Festival, Stirbey palace, Buftea by Bucharest

8-9 August 2015 a new edition of the Summer Well Festival took place around the palace of Stirbey in Buftea, a locality in the periphery of Bucharest, Romania. The gardens of the palace are situated on the Emerald necklace of the Colentina river which was the subject of the Le Notre forum in 2015. The palace itself was subject of recent publications.

Stirbey Palace in Buftea, in the park
The Știrbey palace in Buftea, around 20 km of Bucharest, is one of the princiary residences of the former ruling family of Walachia, one of the Romanian wojwodates. The Bucharest palace is situated on the main historical artery of the city and experienced a number of additions and demolitions of buildings along time, recently reconstructed by Idei urbane. The palace in the outskirts of Bucharest is in a different situation: it is situated in the middle of a large urban forest park, on the shores of one of the lakes of the Colentina river.
The architecture and interior of both was subject of a recent publication by Oana Marinache, with a future book coming this year.
The landscape of the park was subject of a zonal plan which can be found in the Le Notre database. The cited literature also gives an overview of the zonal plan, along with another historical park we wrote about.
Each year, the park is location for the Summer Well festival, as it was also this August.
