The Bánnfy castle in Bonțida is a baroque castle in Transsylvania. Fire was set to the castle at the end of the 2nd World War. From the original baroque garden, the statues were saved and deposited in a museum, and the castle restored as a ruin with British and Hungarian support as well. Currently, the Foundation Transsylvania Trust takes care of the castle. The interventions were awarded the Europa Nostra prize for raising awareness to cultural and landscape heritage. Before this, it was on the most endangered monument lists.
Among the measures for raising awareness are besides practica for students in restoration also public events for citizens, such as the Electric Castle festival at the end of June and the Days of the Castle at the end of August, when the innitiative "Forgotten Monuments" is organising an excursion.
