Iasi, another candidate for European capital of culture 2021
poetry in Copou park
The national poet of Romania, Eminescu, lived in this part of the country, and the lyrics illustrated communion with nature. While candidating as European capital of culture along with Cluj and Bucharest about which we wrote recently, poetry testimonies were integrated in the park.

The Copou park in Iasi is one of the most important in the city. In the park is the Linden tree of Eminescu, the national poet of Romania. The tree, about 500 years old, marks the communion with nature celebrated in the lyrics of the poet, out of which many deal with the forest. It is one of the most important natural monuments of Romania and symbol for the city.
The park itself dates from the 19th century and it was done by Gheorghe Asachi, the name of whom the Technical University bears.
With the occasion of the candidature of the city for setting the European cultural capital in 2021 when Romania will give this capital, the poetry is marked in the park.
