Professor Zhou Ganzhi
Landscape architecture professor Zhou Ganzhi has died

Martha Fajardo, Past President of IFLA has announced the sad death of Professor Zhou Ganzhi.

Professor Zhou Ganzhi was an eminent landscape educator from the People’s Republic of China and one of the key architects of the integration of the Chinese Society of Landscape architecture into the International Federation of Landscape Architecture.

Professor Zhou Ganzhi had a long and illustrious professional and academic career, including acting as a special consultant of The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of People’s Republic of China, as a Professor at Tsinghua University as well as being a former Vice Minister of Construction.

Among his many roles, he was a Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Honorary President of Urban Planning Society of China as well as being the Honorary President of Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture.

Martha Fajardo, during whose presidency of IFLA the CSLA became members of IFLA, paid the following tribute to Professor Zhou Ganzhi: “Those of us who knew him will remember him as a gentle and inspirational person who was determined to make the world a better place.”
