August is Plant Material Database Month

Newsletter Image Newsletter Image

The website login area features a plant material database. In August we invite our members to go 'plant hunting' and add their finds to the database.

The LE:NOTRE plant material database is meant as a living resource for students, teachers, researchers and professionals involved in planning, designing, managing, teaching or researching about landscape.

As with all of the LE:NOTRE Resource Databases, the Plant Materials Database is a 'work in progress', dependant on us - the community - to contribute content.

Each record consists of translation of the scientific name, family, form, life form (Raunkiaer), size, flowers, fruit and bark. It is also indicated in which countries the species is indigenous, if it is a rare species and whether it is an invasive plant. The description of eco-types and growing conditions helps with deciding on where to use the plant: soil, moisture, sun and amount of shade.

You are curious about the LE:NOTRE Plants database? Login at and find the database in the Resources area.
